Retired American soccer star Abby Wambach DUI arrest should lawyer-up quickly.

Remember, anything you say can and will be used against you. Even your posts on Facebook!

Abby Wambach DUI arrest after failing to stop at red light

Abby Wamback, who recently retired, was arrested early Sunday on a driving under the influence charge in Portland, Oregon.

On Saturday April 2, 2016, at 11:05 p.m., a Central Precinct sergeant stopped a 2014 Range Rover at Southwest 14th Avenue and Yamhill Street after observing the Wambach fail to stop for a red light at Southwest 13th Avenue and Taylor Street.

The professional soccer player was arrested shortly after 2 a.m. and booked at the Multnomah County Jail in Portland. She was released on her own recognizance.

In Oregon, driving under the influence offense is called driving under the influence of intoxicants, or DUII.

She is one of the most decorated soccer players in history.  In a career spanning 14 years, Wambach amassed two Olympic gold medals, one World Cup, a FIFA World Player of the Year award and six U.S. Soccer Athlete of the Year crowns.

Abby Wambach DUI arrest Facebook confession

Either she hasn’t hired a DUI attorney, or her DWI lawyer didn’t counsel her to not post any confession on Facebook.  On Sunday, she apologized in a post on her Facebook page!

“Last night I was arrested for DUII in Portland after dinner at a friend’s house. Those that know me, know that I have always demanded excellence from myself. I have let myself and others down. I take full responsibility for my actions. This is all on me. I promise that I will do whatever it takes to ensure that my horrible mistake is never repeated. I am so sorry to my family, friends, fans and those that look to follow a better example.” posted Wambach.

This Facebook confession could be considered an admission of guilty!  Perhaps, Wambach has potential defenses to her DUI arrest, but this confession will not help her case.
