Attorney Mary J. Simon is a Criminal Defense Attorney with Albers & Associates who is committed to protecting the rights of individuals through strategic advocacy, compassionate representation, and personalized legal counsel. With experience as both a prosecutor and defense attorney, Attorney Simon brings a comprehensive understanding of the criminal justice system to every case she handles. Prior to joining Albers &Associates, Attorney Simon served as an Assistant State’s Attorney with the Baltimore City State’s Attorney’s Office, where she prosecuted criminal matters and gained extensive courtroom experience. She has also served as an Assistant Public Defender in both New Jersey and Connecticut, representing individuals in criminal matters and advocating for clients navigating complex legal challenges as well as in child welfare law, where she represented and advocated for children and families involved in intricate legal proceedings.
A graduate of Quinnipiac University School of Law, Attorney Simon has consistently demonstrated a commitment to public interest advocacy and community service. During law school, she held leadership roles within the Public Interest Law Project and the Society for
Dispute Resolution, served as a Student Bar Association representative, and supported efforts to promote diversity and inclusion within legal education. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Spelman College.
Her commitment to protecting individual rights and expanding access to legal education extends beyond the courtroom through her community outreach efforts and her role as founder of the program, Suited for Justice, an initiative focused on increasing legal awareness, empowering communities, and creating meaningful connections between individuals and the justice system.
Attorney Simon has been recognized for her commitment to excellence and service, including receiving the Office of the Public Defender Attorney of the Month Award, National Association of Women Lawyers Outstanding Law Student Award, the Excellence in
Clinical Work Award, Service to the Law School Award, and recognition for her contributions as an advocate and public servant.
