Dakota Halford is an Associate Attorney in the Family Law Department at Albers & Associates, where she also assists the firm’s Civil Department. She began her career with the firm three years ago as a Law Clerk and, through her dedication, advocacy, and commitment to client service, advanced into her current role as an attorney.
Dakota earned her Bachelor of Science in Behavioral Science and continued her legal education at the University of Baltimore School of Law, where she earned her Juris Doctor. Her passion for helping others began early in her career through internships with organizations dedicated to supporting vulnerable communities. She interned with Heartly House, Inc. in Frederick, Maryland, an organization that provides no-cost legal services to survivors of domestic violence, and with the McMinn County Department of Juvenile Services in Athens, Tennessee, where she gained valuable early experience working within the legal system.
During her time at Tennessee Wesleyan University, Dakota distinguished herself both academically and athletically. She earned Dean’s List honors and received numerous awards, including The Horizon Award, the Mr. T Jim Thompson Award, the Volunteer of the Year Award, and the Athletic Director Award. She was also recognized as the AAC Women’s Lacrosse Champion of Character for two consecutive years.
Outside of her legal practice, Dakota remains deeply committed to service and mentorship. She has volunteered with Give Kids the World in Orlando, Florida, served as a girls’ lacrosse goalie coach at Linganore High School, and worked as an assistant coach for the women’s lacrosse program at Hood College.
Dakota is married and the proud mother of one daughter. Her compassion, leadership, and strong commitment to advocacy continue to guide her work with clients and colleagues alike.
